Welcome to the first (and hopefully not the last) installment of Bill’s Blog. Be careful what you wish for. We’ve heard this advice countless times and even experienced it occasionally. You’re reading proof that it didn’t get to be an old adage by chance. When my friend Sara was looking for contributors to the wide world of Incepture blogs, I said I’d be glad to help if needed. It sounded like a great venue and I’d never done a blog before. I did not expect her to take me up on my offer, even though I’m always willing share my thoughts with people; I figured others may be better suited to the task. Well, as you now can tell, she did ask me and here I am.
To be honest, I am rarely at a loss for words, so I thought it would be a snap to churn out a blog. Heck, I could probably do a couple a day. Then, I faced the wide expanse of a blank screen and my mind wandered. I thought of everything other than pertinent blog entry topics. The algae bloom in the arctic, a 90-year-old skydiving for his birthday, recall elections. All were out there, but none had anything to do with my entry. So, I will keep it to the basics until I get the hang of this and tell you about me. In turn, feel free to ask me anything you want about Incepture, consulting, or anything that comes into your mind.
I lived most of my life up to age 21 in central Pennsylvania. When I graduated from college, the Navy found it in their infinite wisdom to send me to the Pentagon first, where I met my future wife, and then on to sunny Mayport, Florida. Like so many others, we decided Florida’s beaches beat Pennsylvania’s weather hands down, and we are now ‘semi-native,’ having been here for over 25 years. After four years on active duty, I entered the civilian world as a computer programmer. It was a pretty big change from the Navy, but I really liked the IT world and off I went. Over the years, I was a developer, DBA, and Project Lead, but I always enjoyed meeting new people and solving problems, which led me into the business development and sales side of consulting. I have truly enjoyed that and continue to have fun doing that today here at Incepture. We have a great team and I can honestly say I look forward to coming to work every day. I enjoy helping our team do whatever we can to have more people find out what a great company we have and the many ways we can help them, whether they are looking for a new challenge or need people to help them achieve their goals.
Well, it looks like I made it through the first entry with limited damage – maybe a mangled participle here or there, but otherwise unscathed. If Sara isn’t completely disappointed, I may even get to do it again!

Hello, my name is Riaan and I am a Recruiter here at Incepture. I recently received an invitation to join the Incepture Blog team. I am proud of this membership, which I predict will last until my first Blog is published. I look forward to sharing some helpful information on the entire process of finding your dream job, and believe me, dream jobs do exist and are within everyone’s reach.

I’m originally from South Africa and I have lived in the United States since 1999. Since then I have been involved with all different types of work like Project Management and Operations Management, but recruiting is my passion. I’ve been in recruiting for 8 years now and I love what I do. I wouldn’t say it’s my dream job but it comes pretty close. My dream job would be anything where I would be paid astronomical amounts of money for doing almost nothing! Since those positions are all taken my next best choice is recruiting and I do it because I love helping people especially through the stressful process of finding employment.
Over the next few weeks I will be blogging about basic and creative strategies to incorporate in to your search for that dream job. Together we will walk through successful interviewing, job searching and how to make you more visible to prospective employers by using the Internet and social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn etc. (There are more but these are the most popular in my opinion)
You can connect with me on LinkedIn at http://www.linkedin.com/in/riaanvanrensburg and follow me on Twitter at @_riaan. You can also use these links to reach out, connect and provide feedback to share your own experiences with me and all of us here at Incepture.
